Sized for a 14-inch tom, Black Chrome is an EVANS two-ply batter head with a black lower film and clear playing surface. The pairing of 7-mil clear and 7.5-mil black films is designed to add body and deep mid-low character while preserving high-frequency attack for high-impact drumming. EVANS describes controlled sustain and precise articulation, including on lower toms. Its design is also aimed at stage and studio microphone work, where it is presented as needing less EQ and adjustment than similar heads.
