MXR’s EVH 5150 Overdrive is an analog overdrive pedal co-designed with Edward Van Halen and voiced around the 5150 amplifier’s blue channel. Output and Gain sit alongside Bass, Mid, and Treble controls, so the pedal can be shaped for crisp crunch or pushed toward saturated drive. The Boost adds compression and saturation, while the dedicated Gate control addresses hiss at higher-gain settings. Use it as the main drive into a clean amp or place it before an already driven front end.
