Mike Mangini’s Wicked Piston sticks use American hickory and a profile that changes along the shaft: .580-inch at the grip, widening through the middle to .620-inch, then narrowing to an acorn tip. That shape places slightly more weight toward the front for a consistent, solid throw and transient. Their extra length also lets you shift your fulcrum up or down the stick to change how much of that forward weighting is engaged.
